The Paleo Diet Food List Harnesses Your Caveman Power

Diet fads come and go year after year. It seems that every magazine and TV show claims to finally have the secret to perfect health and fitness, each one making promises and bringing in big bucks. It’s no wonder that so many people are becoming skeptical, or just giving up. There’s no denying that many of the diet crazes out there just don’t make sense – and you can often predict which ones will not last long. In spite of all of the hype and the misrepresentation, there is one nutrition strategy that makes sense and delivers consistent results – the Paleolithic diet, or “Paleo” method. This simple and effective approach to human food intake has created dramatic results for people all over the world because it’s simple, effective, and accessible. Once you have your paleo diet food list, you can start eating like a caveman and living a new life of health and vitality.

Paleo Diet Foods Bring You Back to Nature

The Paleo Diet is also called the Caveman diet because it’s based on what our earliest ancestors are thought to have eaten. It’s a pretty simple concept – if cavemen had access to it, then you can eat it. The thought behind this approach is that the human body was meant to process certain types of foods, and it’s not really made to handle certain modern types of foods. Raw fruits and vegetables, nuts, seeds, and meats are all on the Paleo menu. However, fried, breaded, processed, and sugary foods are all modern inventions that are not included on the paleo food list.

Organizing Your Paleo Diet List

Eating like a caveman is one thing, but modern people have lives that are much more complex than those of their ancestors. We don’t have all day to hunt and forage, so we need technology to help us help us find and organize our paleo diet foods. New technologies are helping people to list, organize, find, and purchase the foods they need to get back to the peak of human health. In general, the Paleolithic Diet food list looks like this:

  • Green, Leafy Vegetables
  • Root Vegetables
  • Nuts
  • Eggs
  • Fresh Herbs & Spices
  • Wild Fish
  • Fruit
  • Mushrooms
  • Fats
  • Meat

While this may seem like a short list, these are categories of foods, not specific foods. Just think about the endless varieties of specific foods under most of these categories. While there are only so many kinds of eggs, there are many types of nuts, fruits, meats, vegetables, fish, herbs and spices. As you develop and customize your own Paleo Diet list, you can start to explore a whole new world of foods that you might not have encountered before.

Is Caveman Logic the Answer to Good Health?

The basic logic of the Paleo / caveman diet is that our bodies have not changed that much since the time of our earliest ancestors, and our earliest ancestors did not have modern food technology like dairy farms, frying, baking, chemical preservatives and other things that we commonly use to make food today. They didn’t have these things, and their bodies were not designed to process those types of foods. Our bodies are not designed to process them either. Therefore, if we attempt to eat like people ate before these modern food technologies existed, we can feed ourselves in a natural way that will make us look and feel healthier. It’s simple and it makes sense. Even more importantly, the research seems to support it.

The research shows that this approach to diet and nutrition has no negative side effects. In fact, unlike many of the fad diets that have no actual health benefits, the Paleolithic diet has been reported to remedy the effects of multiple sclerosis, obesity, heart disease, high triglycerides, liver fat, “leaky gut syndrome,” type-two-diabetes, high blood pressure, and a variety of food allergies, digestive problems, and metabolic disorders. So, it appears as though we have nothing to lose and much to gain by following the paleo food list and getting back to basics.
